I'm Sumit Garg. I build distributed search systems for a living, and focus on search infrastructure and developer experience. I read widely, run long distances, and tinker constantly: interactive physics explainers, a search engine course from scratch, a Kannada app for Bangalore newcomers, a maths game I'm building with my kid.
Everything tends toward disorder. This site is my way of pushing back, collecting what I read, writing down what I think, and sharing what I build before it scatters.
Essays are long-form pieces on search, retrieval, agents, and the infrastructure of intelligence. Notes are shorter observations and field notes — the thinking that happens between essays. Explainers are interactive visual walkthroughs of physics, math, and AI concepts. The Library archives curated articles on mental models and clear thinking.
